A large amount of sulfur to achieve good quality (high purity) requires a series of performance and system design that will be used to access it. Quality of sulfur can be different by using by a variety of methods that are expressed differently, and the most well-known method is named Frasch.
Among other processes Claus is usually a purity of 98/99% (dry) and includes 0.01 to 0.3 % organic materials, 0.01 to 0.05 % ash and approximately 0.05 % humidity without arsenic, tellurium, fluorine and is bitumen.

In this regard, the most common sulfur quality control measures are as follows:

  • Acidity
  • The amount of chloride
  • Amount of carbon (organic matter)
  • The amount of hydrogen sulfide
  • Amount of ammonia
  • Arsenic
